Shannon Michael

USAG Women’s Team Director, Recreational Coach

Coach Shannon has an impressive fourteen years of coaching gymnastics, six years in the army and a degree in Community Health from PSU. After completing her service and schooling, she returned to coaching gymnastics, which is exactly what she loves to do! She began coaching at the ripe old age of fourteen, and has a broad range of experience from preschool classes through USAG Optional Teams.

For the past seven years, Shannon has coached VEGA’s USAG Women’s team, and has been its director for the last four years. Her favorite part of being a coach is spending time with all of her amazing kids. “I am so lucky that I am able to be a part of the lives of so many great children and their families. I love watching them grow from year to year! Being able to teach kids such values as self discipline, courage, teamwork, strength, focus, and determination is my passion. I can’t imagine doing anything else.” Outside of work, Shannon enjoys working out, running, snowboarding, hanging out with her awesome dog Casey, and listening to music. She continues to play the flute in the National Guard.

“If at first you don’t succeed try try again!
